Background and Discussion:

Following the July 9, 2026, Commissioners Court item concerning employees who care for young children, the County Judge’s Office worked with Commissioners Court offices and Human Resources & Talent (HRT) to review and finalize the survey questions. HRT’s Benefits & Wellness Division administered the anonymous survey. It was launched and communicated to employees on September 14, 2026, and closed on October 2, 2026, after being open for 19 calendar days.

The survey gathered employee feedback on childcare needs and challenges, workplace flexibility, awareness and use of existing County benefits and community resources, and opportunities to better support employees caring for young children. The attached report presents the results, summarizes themes from written responses, and offers recommendations for Court’s consideration.

The recommendations prioritize opportunities to improve awareness of and use of existing resources, and to ensure the consistent application of current workplace practices. Any proposal that requires additional funding or a change to County policy would require a separate evaluation and, as applicable, future Court consideration.

Expected Impact:

This transmittal provides Commissioners Court with employee feedback and recommendations to inform its consideration of family-friendly workplace practices.
