Background and Discussion:

The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) has received grant funding for the GIFT Program for many years.  The grant funding pays for an intensive therapeutic program provided in a residential setting to treat trauma experienced by youth who are victims of juvenile sex trafficking or are at very high risk of becoming involved in sex trafficking.

Expected Impact:

The participants of the GIFT Program are able to benefit from additional services such as additional therapeutic tools and therapeutic assessments, increased training of the clinical/therapeutic staff, and the cost of some staff salaries are offset as a result of HCJPD being a recipient of these grant funds.

Alternative Options:

The items requested in the grant budget for the GIFT Program would be paid out of the general fund budget if the grant funds are not awarded to HCJPD.
