Background and Discussion:

Harris County Veterinary Public Health has available opportunities, due to understaffing, for veterinarians to

provide relief services under a personal service agreement. Services include up to 40 spay/neuter surgeries

per day with some exam and treatments of current shelter animals or owned animals through the Wellness

Clinic.

Expected Impact:

This will serve a public purpose of Harris County, Texas by reducing the number of unaltered dogs and cats and

improving the health of dogs and cats in Harris County, Texas

Alternative Options:

Alternative option would be not to fund the relief veterinarian and reduce the number of shelter animals

surgeries and possibly reduce the services and the hours that the Wellness Clinic is open to the public.
