Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is partnering with Abilene Christian University Dallas to support internship and educational training opportunities for students in nursing and other health-related academic programs. This affiliation agreement outlines the terms under which HCPH will provide supervised educational and training experiences for students through internship placements and preceptorship opportunities. The partnership supports the development of the future healthcare workforce by offering real-world exposure in public health settings. This initiative aligns with HCPH’s commitment to education, workforce development, training, and community engagement. This partnership will support hands-on learning experiences and strengthen workforce development efforts within public health settings.

Expected Impact:

This agreement will enhance student learning through direct clinical observation and hands-on experience while supporting HCPH’s service delivery through additional support in the field. It strengthens community partnerships and supports workforce development by preparing future nurses and healthcare professionals to serve diverse populations. The collaboration may also foster greater interest in public health careers, benefiting both the department and the broader community
