Background and Discussion:

Texas Department of Transportation released the 2025 Transportation Alternatives Call for Projects with a preliminary application deadline of February 21, 2025. Precinct 4 submitted the preliminary application and was invited to submit a full application with the application deadline June 20, 2025. The program funds projects that improve pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. TxDOT intends to make available approximately $250 million in TA funds associated with FY 2027 through FY 2029.

Expected Impact:

This project will add a six-foot sidewalk along the east side of Westfield Village Drive to Clay Road and a six-foot sidewalk along the north side of Clay Road. As part of this project, all signalized intersections along Clay Road will be improved to include signal upgrades and facilities for pedestrians. The project scope also includes improved crossings and access to M. Robinson Elementary School along Westfield Village Drive and Cardiff Junior High School along Clay Road.
