Background and Discussion:

On February 12, 2024, Harris County Public Health (HCPH) was awarded a $120,000 grant, with no required match, from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). The grant, "Improving the Health of Young Children: Expanding Vaccination Coverage through Partnerships with Early Care and Education Programs," will provide funds to develop partnerships with local early care and education programs to increase vaccination uptake among children ages 0-5 in Harris County. Harris County Commissioners Court voted to accept the funds and approve the preliminary contract with NACCHO at the February 27, 2024 Commissioners Court meeting. We are including the final version of the contract, which has been approved by CAO, for signature.

Expected Impact:

HCPH's Office of Communications, Education, and Engagement will use the grant for outreach campaigns and partnerships with Harris County day care facilities to promote child vaccinations. These funds will also help promote the re-launch of HCPH's Immunization program after a 10-year hiatus.
