Background and Discussion:
The Texas Education Agency has awarded additional funds to the Excel Academy Charter School. Based on federal guidelines, these funds are being re-directed to meet a Title I-Part A purpose that is to provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. The Harris County Juvenile Board has accepted these funds. The funds are for the period beginning July 1, 2022 and ending September 30, 2023.
Expected Impact:
These funds allow the school to employ additional teachers to decrease class sizes and provide more individualized instruction. In addition, funds are used for professional development.
Alternative Options:
Without these funds, other funds would have to be used to pay for these staff and professional development.
