title

Request by the Sheriff’s Office for approval to accept an amendment to an agreement with the Office of the Governor, Homeland Security Grants Division to extend the grant end date to March 31, 2025 for the FY 2024 Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center grant.

end

Background and Discussion:

On October 10, 2023, Commissioners Court approved the grant award from the Office of the Governor for grant funds in the amount of $35,707,163.36, with no cash match requirement. The TAG Center supports strategic partnerships and targeted regional, multidisciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through the coordination of gang prevention, intervention and suppression activities.

Expected Impact:

This grant extension will enable funding to complete project activities for the TAG Center. There is no impact to the general fund.

Alternative Options:

If we do not extend this grant award, the Sheriff’s Office, Fort Bend County and Brazoria County will forfeit the opportunity to complete necessary TAG Center project activities.
