Background and Discussion:

SPARK Parks serve as valuable outdoor spaces for schools during the instructional day and remain open to the public after school hours, on weekends, and during holidays. These parks provide opportunities for students and community members to spend time outdoors, exercise, socialize, and participate in recreational activities. SPARK Parks enhance school playgrounds by adding amenities that are typically beyond the scope of school district resources.

Expected Impact:

The project will increase access to nearby outdoor recreation, which is especially valuable in dense, multi-generational neighborhoods. Community use of parks became even more important during COVID, highlighting the need for accessible outdoor spaces.

Alternative Options:

The alternative option for this proposal would be denial of this project which may have a negative impact on surrounding communities.
