Background and Discussion:

On February 17, 2026, Harris County Precinct 2 submitted a BetterStreets2Neighborhoods (BS2N) project request to the Office of the County Engineer to address severely deteriorated roadway conditions through the replacement of concrete pavement panels and the application of asphalt mill and overlay treatments throughout multiple subdivisions of residential streets in Precinct 2.

Expected Impact:

The expected impact of this project is to identify the most critical roadway segments and perform necessary rehabilitation, including concrete panel replacement and asphalt mill and overlay, as funding allows. No engineering design work is required for this effort. The selected on-call contractor will complete construction of prioritized segments to maximize improvements within the available budget, thereby enhancing drivability, safety, and overall roadway conditions.

Alternative Options:

Alternative options include Precinct 2 identifying other funding or maintenance resources for these residential subdivisions, such as rebidding the project or utilizing other available on-call contracts.
