Background and Discussion:

Precinct 4 is collaborating with Lone Star Legal Aid to provide free legal aid workshops at designated Precinct 4 community centers. Through this collaboration, Lone Star Legal Aid will deliver educational workshops designed to increase access to legal information and resources for Harris County residents, particularly low-income individuals and families. The agreement term is twelve (12) months with two (2) one-year renewal options.

Workshop topics may include public benefits, powers of attorney, wills, housing-related matters, and other legal education programs identified through community needs. The collaboration is intended to strengthen communities by providing accessible legal information that helps residents protect their housing, income, safety, and access to critical benefits while reducing the risk of crises such as eviction or loss of healthcare coverage.

Expected Impact:

The Lone Star Legal Aid collaboration is expected to increase access to legal education and community resources for Harris County residents by offering free workshops in trusted and accessible community settings. Participants will gain valuable knowledge about legal rights, public benefits, estate planning tools, and other resources that can help improve financial stability and overall well-being.

The initiative will also support community engagement by connecting residents with legal information and services that may help prevent housing instability, benefit disruptions, and other challenges. Through coordinated outreach, participant registration, and workshop promotion, the partnership will expand awareness of available legal resources and strengthen support networks throughout Precinct 4 communities.
