Background and Discussion:

Harris County provides vision coverage to approximately 43,000 employees, retirees, and their dependents. Harris County is fully insured for vision benefits and pays a monthly premium to a carrier for paying claims.

This request is to make an award to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife Davis Vision) to provide vision benefits for 2025 with four subsequent renewal options based on the lowest priced proposal taking into consideration the evaluation criteria as outlined in the Request for Proposal (RFP).

Expected Impact:

This award provides Harris County’s covered members continuation of their vision benefits with no changes to plan design or the current Davis Vision provider network. Overall, this award ensures a vision benefit that contributes to an affordable and generous benefits package to assist in efforts to recruit and retain a healthy and effective workforce.
