Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 2 (PCT2) submitted a request to Harris County Engineering Department (HCED) PMO for HCED to manage the study of the Hogan Street Corridor, from Interstate Highway 45 to Interstate Highway 69, approximately 1.6 miles long, as part of Precinct 2's Partnership Program with the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) 21. The goal is to provide a corridor study focused on public safety and community input. To meet Revive2Thrive vision of Precinct 2 for empowering communities and creating opportunities to existing neighborhoods, the project will study, evaluate, and analyze for roadway, drainage, traffic, and sidewalk improvements on Hogan Street from Interstate Highway 45 to Interstate 69.

Expected Impact:

The use of Professional Services will expedite the assessment of the existing roadway, drainage, and pedestrian elements of the Corridor; and provide recommendations using specialized engineering services. This study will be contributed to incorporate pedestrian and bicycle facilities that promote safety throughout the corridor and make it more pedestrian/bicycle friendly and spur economic development.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, professional engineering services will be delayed if additional staff is not contracted.

Alignment with Goal(s):

_ Justice and Safety

_ Economic Opportunity

_ Housing

_ Public Health

X Transportation

X Flooding
