Background and Discussion:

The purpose of this transmittal is to apply for grant award funds from the Watershed Protection Plan Implementation Grant from Texas A&M Forest Service to fund the tree planting and maintenance for 2 years at the Skinner Rd Stormwater Detention Basin (K545-06-00) in the Cypress Creek Watershed.

Expected Impact:

The proposed project will plant and maintain up to 500 trees for 2 years at the K545-06-00 Stormwater Detention Basin. The Flood Control District will utilize its resources and applicable consultants during the project, as well as the management of the grant approval process in compliance with Harris County statutes, applicable laws of the state of Texas, and Policy regarding Federal Grant Awards.

Alternative Options:

The alternative is to not apply for grant funding, wherein tree planting and maintenance would not be completed or would need to be entirely funded with local funding.
