Background and Discussion:
HCTRA was a part of the electric vehicle (EV) pilot project approved by Commissioners Court on May 10, 2022, to acquire EV’s and their charging infrastructure. Subsequently, HCTRA’s locations were not included in the request approved by Commissioners Court on November 15, 2022, for the procurement of the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment.
This agreement will allow CenterPoint Energy to install a secondary Point of Service (POS) at the HCTRA Maintenance Yard. This will allow HCTRA in the future to install EV charging stations in adherence to the Harris County Climate Action Plan for Clean Fleet and Commuting (Goal 3: Shift County Fleet to Zero - or Low-Emission Vehicles; Strategy 3.1: Implementing New Technologies to Retrofit Fleet and Use Less Fuel.)
On June 12, 2025, Court approved a $25,515.00 extension agreement, but due to time constraints and cost increases, an updated agreement is needed to reflect the $2,341 increase for an updated total of $27,856.00.
Expected Impact:
The agreement allows CenterPoint Energy to expedite the installation of the secondary POS, minimizing the risk of construction delays for the future installation of EV charging stations.
