Currently scheduled for September 9, 2026, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) “Unity in the Community” Cadet Bus Tour is designed to introduce cadets to the diverse communities they will serve by visiting predominantly Hispanic, Asian, African American, LGBTQIA+, Indian, Jewish, and Muslim areas. At each stop, selected speakers from local communities discuss the history of their community’s relationship with law enforcement, including past challenges, conflicts, and notable cases. These grassroots leaders highlight specific concerns and cultural nuances, offering cadets practical suggestions for building stronger, more effective connections with each group.
