Background and Discussion:

The purpose of this Contract is to perform activities in support of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Cooperative Agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in support of public health emergency preparedness. Managing public health preparedness in a large jurisdiction requires coordination across dozens of local jurisdictions, healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and other county partners. The funded positions are part of a larger framework that ensures HCPH meets federal requirements, which can lead to additional support during emergencies, including financial and personnel resources.

Expected Impact:

It provides the coordination of training and resources to support Harris County’s ability to respond to public health emergencies. Emergency preparedness planning and exercises help to identify gaps in emergency plans and procedures that, when addressed, will improve the readiness of Harris County.
