Background and Discussion:
The Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basins project is nearing the end of the Design stage. It is planned as a single-phase project to increase the storage capacity within the existing stormwater detention basin compartments located east of Greenhouse Road on Dinner Creek, a tributary of Langham Creek in the Addicks Reservoir watershed, in northwest Harris County. Presently, the Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin site consists of three (3) compartments that were initially designed to be dry-bottom, with a combined stormwater storage capacity of approximately 463 acre-feet. This storage capacity expansion project includes the installation of an inlet weir and a gated outlet connecting the southeast compartment to Dinner Creek.
Expected Impact:
The project seeks to reduce flood risks and maximize stormwater capacity along Dinner Creek (U101-00-00).
Alternative Options:
The alternative to approving this item would be not to approve the additional engineering services, which would not provide additional flood risk reduction and increased stormwater capacity.
