Background and Discussion:

This project was designed to improve the maintenance barn at Deussen Park. Structural work was needed due to the age of the building as well as exposure to the elements. The structure is also receiving a new and improved interior, exterior shell, and improved drainage to help mitigate future exposure.

Expected Impact:

This CIC is needed due to discovered existing conditions of the structure that was not apparent until after the demolition was completed, also included is a slight design change for the doors to better match the new shell that will be installed as requested by the precinct, the proposed trench drain also needs to be extended to get rid of existing ponding, and additional electrical work is required to correct existing issues that will bring the building to code.

The structural additions will help improve the stability of the structure and are being cited as required by the structural engineer. The addition of the door will better match the proposed new shell. The trench drain extension will pull water away from the building and increase the longevity of the structure. The electrical issue needs to be taken care of, so the building is safe and meets code compliance.

Alternative Options:

Structural additions are required for the stability of the building, so therefore there are no viable alternatives for PCO-1. The alternatives for the door plastic laminate add could be denied if the county wished, there would be no impact to the structure outside of a slight aesthetic difference. The alternative of not extending the trench drain is available but could lead to decreased longevity of the structure and lead back to the issue the county is currently fixing. The change for the electrical issue is unavoidable due to it being a code issue.
