title

Request for approval of a joint funding agreement with the United States Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, in the amount of $393,210, to perform surface water resources investigations and research and technical assistance activities during the period of October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027 (Agreement No. 2026-104, Countywide).

Background and Discussion:

This joint funding agreement will provide the Flood Control District with real-time surface water and discharge data at agreed upon gage stations.

Expected Impact:

The Joint Funding Agreement between the United States Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (U.S. Geological Survey) and the Flood Control District supports the continued monitoring of surface water conditions and provides critical information to residents and emergency management officials to support public safety and emergency response efforts.

Alternative Options:

Without this agreement, the U.S. Geological Survey would discontinue the gages that the Flood Control District contributes to each year. Some gages have been in place since the early 1900’s.
