Background and Discussion:

This change in contract is needed to complete the construction contract for this project. Several channels within the project limits have experienced erosion and structural failures during recent storm events, and repairs are needed to ensure they function properly and safely. The purpose of this contract change is to reconcile final quantities in order to close out the project and to add 27 days for additional scope and inclement weather.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
