Background and Discussion:

A major focus of the HAY Center is to assist youth in obtaining entry level and sustainable employment. Youths have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Jobs Program to gain valuable work experience, financial literacy, and mentorship. The Summer Jobs Program allows current and former foster youths, between the ages of 16-20, the opportunity to be placed at various employment sites where the employer provides guidance and assists in developing the youths’ employment skills. The HAY Center pays the youth’s wages through The Reserve Network (a temp agency) while they complete the 6-8-week program. The HAY Center workforce case managers offer continued support to the youths and worksite staff as they navigate the program.

Expected Impact:

Provides job opportunities that enables foster youth to acquire a variety of skills that will help them make future educational and career decisions, and supports our community by way of workforce development.
