Background and Discussion:

The grant application for this project was submitted by the Office of Management and Budget and approved in Commissioners Court on February 27, 2024. The grant funds will enable the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Constable Precinct 4 to purchase Body-Worn Camera equipment.

Expected Impact:

The County currently uses the Utility EOS and Polaris In-Car & Body Worn solution, a seamless all-in-one evidence management system that includes evidence storage for body-worn cameras and various other types of technology. The grant funds will provide an opportunity to purchase equipment that will support technicians to download and analyze data from the Polaris system currently in place as well as provide holsters.

Alternative Options:

If the Sheriff’s Office does not accept the award, we forfeit the opportunity to receive grant funds to purchase equipment needed to support law enforcement.
