title
Request by the County Judge for approval to accept an amendment to an agreement with the Texas Office of the Governor/Homeland Security Grants Division to extend the grant end date to September 30, 2024 for the FY2022 HC - SWAT Unit Equipment and Training (DVE) project.

Background and Discussion:
The County has received funding from this grant program since 2002. This grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security via the Office of the Governor, Homeland Security Grants Division and includes a suite of risk-based grants to assist state, local, tribal and territorial efforts in preventing, protecting against, mitigating, responding to and recovering from acts of terrorism and other threats related to interoperable communications. This grant provides grantees with the resources required for implementation of the National Preparedness System and working toward the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.
Expected Impact:
If accepted, the County will utilize $457,401 of Urban Area Security Initiative funds for the HC - SWAT Unit Equipment and Training (DVE) award, which will impact the County's ability to enhance the special response team’s coordinated response to safely interdict, mitigate, and deter terroristic threats within the region.
Alternative Options:
Without this funding the County would need to find alternate funding, possibly utilize general funds, to maintain a robust Homeland Security Program.

_ Housing
_ Public Health
