Background and Discussion:
The project is located in north Harris County in the Cypress Creek watershed, north of FM 1960, south of Cypress Creek, and east of Hardy Toll Road. The project area consists of approximately 84 acres of single-family residential homes. The existing system is a concrete curb and gutter and primarily drains into Briar Creek (K117-00-00). A 72" RCP with associated inlets also aids in draining the western portion of the site. The scope of the project includes constructing a drainage swale and underlying storm sewer behind the commercial tract along FM 1960.
The change in contract includes the following:
The line items are adjusted to reconcile overrun and underrun quantities on the project for completion of the proposed scope of work.
• The increase of quantities on overrun line-item numbers 004, 019, 020, 022, 023, 034, 035 and 049 for an addition in the amount of $147,682.36.
• The decrease of quantities on underrun line-item numbers 001, 003, 005, 006, 007, 012, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 021, 025, 026, 028, 037, 038, 039, 040, 041, 042, 043, 044, 045, 047, 050, 051, 055, 056, 057, 058, 059, 060, 061, 062, 600 for a deduction in the amount of $346,287.00.
• Adding 109 days to the contract to account for approved project delays, including 68 days due to late mobilization, 40 days associated with utility conflicts, and the remaining days for documented weather-related rain delays.
The above additions and deductions result in a deduction in the amount of $198,604.64 and 109 calendar days
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes and drainage improvements in the Memorial Hills Subdivision.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be compensated for completing the scope of work
