Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 1 submitted a project to the Office of the County Engineer for an asphalt mill and overlay along Fuqua St. from Furman Rd. to Cullen Blvd., Furman Rd. from Fuqua St. to Fellows Rd., and Fellows Rd. from Furman Rd. to SH 288. The project also includes culvert replacement as needed to ensure capacity and localized ditch grading or regrading to maintain positive drainage to outfalls.

The study phase of the project was conducted from August 17, 2022, through January 9, 2024. Following this, the design phase began on January 24, 2024, and was completed on March 26, 2026. The study and design have been completed, and the bid package has been reviewed by Precinct 1, which has provided concurrence to advertise. Construction is anticipated to begin on June 12, 2026, with an expected construction duration of eight months.

Expected Impact:

The expected impact is improved roadway conditions, drivability, and safety through resurfacing of existing pavement.

Alternative Options:

Precinct 1 would need to delay the project or identify alternative funding or delivery methods
