title

Request by The Children’s Assessment Center (CAC) for approval to extend current ARPA Funding for four positions to September 30, 2025.

end

Background and Discussion:

Commissioners Court approved an allocation of ARPA funding to The CAC on September 13, which included four positions. Two Training Specialist positions were subsequently approved on October 25, 2022, and two Clinician positions were subsequently approved on November 15, 2022.  These positions were both approved until December 31, 2024.  We have subsequently received approval from the ARPA Steering Team to extend these positions to September 30, 2025, by reallocating the existing funding.  No additional allocation of funding is required.  Any salaries or benefits beyond September 30, 2025, will be covered by The CAC’s operating budget as this modality and training becomes a larger portion of our operating model.

Expected Impact:

Single-session clinical assessments and Trainings will support the mental health of children who experienced abuse and their families.  Training resources will be used to train Harris County school students, teachers, and administrators.

Alternative Options:

Reduce scope and funding of previously approved child abuse prevention and treatment efforts.
