Background and Discussion:
Project consists of procuring three medical pods with options for an additional pod, based on the local needs. These pods will be located on the Flukinger Community Center site and will provide health and medical services to the nearby community.
The Pod Complex provides solutions for an immediate response to medical needs when disasters hit. The Channelview Wellness Pod Complex would provide Psychiatric/Mental Health; Women’s Health; Pharm/Lab; & Primary Care services to families living near the distressed community. The Channelview Wellness Pod Complex will provide evidence-based, best-practice care in areas where demand cannot be met by local clinicians. This project is part of an integrated approach to natural disaster recovery for the region.
Changes include: a design update to the prefabricated pod floorplan to conform with updated ADA code requirements, substitution for concrete and rebar paving in lieu of asphalt, credit for new section of sidewalk being deducted from scope.
Expected Impact:
These changes allow the contractor to bill for required changes resulting from unforeseen conditions and design updates.
Alternative Options:
Should we not move forward with this change in contract, these items will remain unreconciled delaying the closeout of the contract and project.
