Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 2 is empowered with fifty-five (55) parks including hike and bike trails and undeveloped

green space. The parks are diverse in terms of themes and park goers' accommodations. A list of just a few

recreational accommodations are as follows:

• Two (2) dog parks in two (2) of our parks.

• Water park assemblies in four (4) of the parks (one [1] each).

• For those who really like water, we also have a beach park that encompasses two (2) beaches with

seasonal lifeguard attendance.

• "All Inclusive Park" which will accommodate our "special needs" community.

• Multiple walking trails and nature trails.

• Horse arena for horseback riding.

• Pier fishing and boat docks, a floating dock with canoe launch.

• Archery.

• Pavilion rentals.

A current value statement is to progressively assure that in fifty-five (55) parks parkgoers eventually have fifty-five (55) different unique experiences.

Expected Impact:

Create a program to provide educational experience for youth and young adults to teach the skills needed

to perform environmentally sustainable landscaping services.
