Background and Discussion:
The Beaumont Place Subdivision is located in the Greens Bayou watershed near Highway 90 and Beltway 8. The proposed improvements include roadside ditch regrading, driveway culvert upgrades, expansion of channel along Big Gulch, concrete lined Sulphur Gully channel with reinforced concrete box (RCB) crossing improvements. Improvements also include multiple detention ponds along Big Gulch with an extreme event overflow swale towards the upstream portion of the channel.
The change in contract includes the following:
• An additional 14 calendar days are requested due to delays associated with additional culvert, sidewalk, and driveway installations, redesigned storm sewer details along the Phases I and II interface at Flagstaff Ln, redesigned grading along the roadside ditch over existing Magellan and ExxonMobil pipelines, and the installation of an 8x4 RCB. These conflicts, which impacted the proposed installation of storm sewer and excavation of roadside ditches required extended coordination
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Beaumont Place subdivision.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be able to complete the scope of work.
