title
Request by Public Health Services for approval to accept from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant funds in the amount of $2,231,063, with no required match, for the FY 2026 Overdose Data to Action - Limiting Overdose Collaborative Actions (Local) Grant.
end
Background and Discussion:
This grant relates to an application that was authorized by Commissioners Court on 5/14/19 and this is the fifth year for renewal of funding. The grant project focuses on prevention and surveillance strategies, whereby surveillance data related to mortality, clinical, and related data will be linked to support prevention activities centered around care, education, harm reduction and coalition-building
Expected Impact:
The renewal of this grant will allow for the continuation of surveillance and prevention activities related to substance use both in Harris County and the Houston Health Department jurisdiction through a subaward. Funds from this grant also support efforts in the substance use program at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office through its existing partnership with Harris County Public Health. Additionally, it would fund the two staff members who currently work full-time on this project and the 10 additional staff required by the grant.
