Background and Discussion:

Xray equipment typically lasts 10-15 years and our equipment has exceeded that time span. Chest xrays are essential to care for tuberculosis patients and we cannot afford for the xray machine to go down. Obtaining new equipment will also aid us in diagnostic accuracy as the images will be clearer. Finally, new xray equipment will decrease radiation exposure to patients.

Expected Impact:

We will have reliable xray equipment that will not break down for years to come. The clarity of the images will be improved and will have integration with our Epic electronic medical record. We will also have lower maintenance costs as our current equipment is old and needs upkeep. We will also be able to more quickly take chest xrays to expedite patient flow. Finally, we will expose the patient to the lowest allowable level of radiation.
