title

Request that the County Judge execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Harris County and Barrett Economic & Community Development Organization (BECDO) for the 2025 Barrett Youth Enrichment Summer Camp.

Background and Discussion:

Since 2000 the Barrett Station and Riley Chambers Community Centers and Riley Chambers Park have served as the location for the annual Barrett Youth Enrichment Summer Camp.  This camp offers youth in and around the historic Barrett community an opportunity to continue to learn, grow, socialize, and have fun during the summer break between the regular school years.  The MOU between Harris County and BECDO identifies the roles and responsibilities that each party will assume in order to deliver the program in 2025.

Expected Impact:

This program will support youth education and the development of social, life, and leadership skills that foster success and build the foundation upon which our future leaders are raised.

Alternative Options:

Court could opt not to support the 2025 summer camp, which would deny the Barrett area youth the opportunity to participate in this important, long standing program.
