Background and Discussion:

As previously approved by Commissioners Court, the funds support law enforcement assigned to the tollway system that has an average daily traffic volume of 1,788,944 vehicles.

Expected Impact:

The funding will permit Harris County Toll Road Authority continue to support beneficial roadway safety

programs ensuring public safety, and the resiliency of operations.

Alternative Options:

Overtime hours would be banked to employees’ compensatory time accounts, which increases paid time-off

and accumulation of additional compensatory time by other employees to cover approved absences. Most

agencies mandate a maximum of 120 hours, and federal law limits banked hours to 240 hours.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  1. Make Harris County safer and more just.
