Background and Discussion:

It is recommended that the Flood Control District be authorized to accept a full grant through a FEMA Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) Grant for funding for the design phase required to support the development of a Flood Risk Area Visualization Tool.

Additionally, the Flood Control District wishes to be prepared to consider Climate Informed Science Approach (CISA) floodplains when the data is made available to facilitate climate-resilience planning.

The anticipated federal share for the project is $49,900 with no local match.

Expected Impact:

The tool will provide decision makers and planners a valuable tool to identify risk areas in a way that considers not just the hazard, but the people it’s likely to affect and how it’s likely to affect them.

Alternative Options:

The alternative would be to do the project with local money.
