Background and Discussion:
The project comprises of approximately 160-acre site in Harris County Texas and supports projects funded by the CDBG program. The project includes the development of a regional detention basin with three compartments. The project area involves District owned property along Cypress Creek and East of TC Jester and bounded by Cypresswood Drive on the north, TC Jester Blvd on the west, Northgate Forest on the south and Strack Drive on the east. This amendment will provide for the design revisions to comply with the final environmental assessment, current standards, and for two separate construction packages.
Expected Impact:
The East TC Jester Detention Basins will construct 1,004 acre-feet of detention volume which will provide flood mitigation and general flood damage reduction benefits to residents of Harris County.
Alternative Options:
The alternative to approving this item would be that the district will need to cancel the project and forfeit state, FEMA and CDBG funds allocated for the construction of this project.
