Background and Discussion:
The 1310 Prairie Renovations include asbestos testing removal and proper disposal of asbestos containing material, the renovation of the 9th and 12th floors of the 1310 Prairie location. No hazardous materials were found so there was no need for abatement or removal.
The project also includes the renovation of approximately 4,790 SF of interior space on the 9th floor and approximately 8,712 SF of interior space on the 12th floor to include life safety fire code compliance, interior demolition, millwork, finishes, lighting, reconfiguring of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and signage.
This request is for: Reallocation of the remainder of the funds in the Asbestos Abatement allowance to be used as Owner’s Contingency on this project. Any funds which remain in the Owner Contingency funds will be credited to the County. Adding 53 days to the project
Expected Impact:
This would expedite any future requested change orders that require funding, this request is to use the funds originally allocated to Asbestos Abatement to be used as an Owner’s Contingency for the project. Any remaining funds in the Owner’s Contingency will be credited to the County.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option would require requesting a change in contract for additional funding needed which could extend the construction timeline of completion and may increase cost.
