Request by the Sheriff’s Office for approval of a memorandum of understanding with the League of American Bicyclists for a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Seminar in connection with a previously awarded grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Background and Discussion:
Certification as an LCI requires the meeting of specific prerequisites and the successful completion of a
seminar arranged by a Site Facilitator and conducted by a designated League Smart Cycling Coach. The
seminar will be at least 23 hours in length and will focus on teaching the community about cycling safety.
Expected Impact:
The cost of the LCI Seminar will be reimbursed through the FY 2025 Texas Department of Transportation General Traffic Safety grant already awarded to the Sheriff’s Office.
Alternative Options:
The LCI certification is one of the grant objectives and will aid in implementing the community education objectives stated in the grant contract.
