Project Description:
This project will modernize the audiovisual (AV) systems in Rooms 7 and 8 of the Glazier Senior Education Center, one of Precinct 4’s highest-trafficked facilities. The current AV equipment is nearly a decade old and no longer meets the functional or technical demands of staff and community users. In Room 7, the existing projector will be replaced with a modern 150-inch video wall, paired with a new Barco system, HDMI wall plate, two lapel microphones, and a touch panel mounted on the back wall for streamlined control. The AV rack will remain in the existing closet. Room 8 will receive two new 100-inch displays, repositioned speakers for optimal audio coverage, two handheld and two lapel microphones, Bluetooth and HDMI connectivity, and an updated ClickShare system to support wireless content sharing. Together, these upgrades will enhance presentation capabilities, user experience, and operational efficiency in these high-use spaces.

Justification & Alternatives:
Alternative options considered included maintaining the existing AV systems with minimal repairs or replacing only the most outdated components, such as microphones or projectors, rather than pursuing a full modernization. However, this approach would not resolve underlying issues with reliability, user experience, or compatibility with current presentation standards. Another alternative was to install smaller displays or more cost-effective consumer-grade equipment, but this would not provide the durability or performance required in a high-traffic, multi-use environment like Glazier Senior Education Center. Additionally, the idea of using mobile AV carts instead of fixed installations was considered to reduce installation costs, but this would limit usability, create setup inefficiencies, and increase the likelihood of technical issues during programming. Ultimately, a comprehensive upgrade was deemed the most cost-effective and sustainable solution to meet the long-term needs of staff and community users.
