Background and Discussion:

John Paul Landing Basin is a critical component of the Upper Langham Creek Frontier Program. This amendment will provide an additional $498,276.00 in funding to cover a change order to increase excavation quantities, which will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Expected Impact:

This request will provide funding for the project in accordance with the approved change order, which will allow the County to provide detention volume within the Upper Langham Creek Frontier Program, resulting in flood risk reduction. It will also allow the addition of park amenities for the public. The joint project and funding structure will facilitate more efficient and cost-effective governmental services.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, the County would not be able to move forward with payment to the Contractor for excavation of detention volume and addition of park amenities.
