Request for approval to decree that the Harris County Flood Control District project serves a public purpose and public necessity, which requires that the Harris County Real Property Division be directed to acquire 18 fee simple tracts for the public project known as Stormwater Detention Basins on Halls Bayou near Hardy West, for the purpose of channel improvements and stormwater detention, authorizing eminent domain if necessary (Halls Bayou Watershed, Bond ID C-41, Project ID P518-15-00-E001, CDBG-MIT, Precinct 2).

Background and Discussion:
This is a request to approve right-of-way acquisition for Stormwater Detention Basins on Halls Bayou near Hardy West in the Greens Bayou watershed. These properties are located north of Halls Bayou, south of Hill Road, west of Hardy Toll Road, and east of Woodmoss Drive.
Expected Impact:
These properties will be used for/provide stormwater detention basins to reduce water surface elevations along the P118-00-00 channel.
Alternative Options:
Not approving this item would result in major changes to the design and reduction of the proposed improvements and significantly reduced benefits to the population, as well as potential loss of CDBG funding for the project.
