Background and Discussion:
This project involves restroom improvements to remedy multiple issues at four parks in Precinct 3. The existing facilities have significant ADA compliance and air circulation issues, and the buildings are not resilient against inclement weather conditions such as flood and freezing. Precinct 3 has requested that Harris County Engineering Department (HCED) manage the design and construction of new restrooms at Riley Chambers Park, Collins Park, Southwell Park, and Jesse Jones Park.
Expected Impact:
New restroom facilities will enhance visitors’ experiences by providing safe, accessible, resilient facilities as well as enhance the visual appeal of the park grounds.
Alternative Options:
Alternative options include renovating the existing buildings, which would reduce the number of stalls and number of users the facility can reasonably accommodate.
