Background and Discussion:
Precinct 3 is requesting the Office of the County Engineer to enter into an agreement for professional engineering services to provide the design of an asphalt roadway rehabilitation plan for 7.54 miles of various road in the Channelview within Precinct 3. The maintenance repair options include base repair, mill and overlay and other pavement repair options such as hot or cold in place recycling, if recommended by the design team.
Expected Impact:
This agreement will allow the firm to conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and various other construction materials to ensure the material’s compliance with Harris County Engineering Department’s adopted standards and specifications as required by state law.
Alternative Options:
Construction materials testing is required by state law. Thus, alternatives include issuing a purchase order for similar services to a different vendor or cancelling this construction project.
