Background and Discussion:

Under the Master MOA with Overdose Response Strategy (ORS), Harris County Public Health, Office of Epidemiology Surveillance and Emerging Diseases would like to execute Attachment A 30801001 "Capacity Building for the Overdose Response Strategy." The purpose of this is to establish a formal agreement with the Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) program so that they can provide technical assistance to our public health analysts and public health practice coordinators to aid in local response activities to the overdose crisis. Harris County Public Health analysts and public health practice coordinators are funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Overdose Data to Action Grant (OD2A). ORS is also a CDC funded program that provides our teams with technical assistance in responding to the overdose crises in our community.

Expected Impact:

The approval of this MOA will allow Harris County Public Health to build partnerships for Public Safety/ First responders. This will work to enhance effective community overdose prevention efforts in Harris County communities.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to this MOA would be that we are unable to build the partnerships needed to help efforts to reduce the incidents of drug overdose in Harris County communities.
