Background and Discussion:
Request for approval to award contract to RC Warner, LLC for the execution of Cognitive Behavioral Intervention (CBI) Training for Harris County Public Health for the period of April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025.
Harris County Public Health, Community Health and Violence Prevention Services (CHVPS) Division uses public health approaches to prevent and disrupt violence in Harris County and is comprised of two programs - the Holistic Assistance Response Team (HART) program and the Relentless Interrupters Serving Everyone (RISE) (comprising the Community and Hospital Violence Interruption Programs).
CHVPS was established with goals to prevent violence and improve the health, wellbeing, and self-sufficiency of Harris County community members. Violence victimizes entire communities: claiming lives, ripping apart families, robbing residents of their sense of security, and destroying their neighborhood economies. The programs and services the HCPH’s Community Health and Violence Prevention Services Division offer services, interventions, and resources that are complimentary to law enforcement and address unmet needs. Approving the award for Cognitive Behavioral Intervention will increase the capacity of trained personnel to effectively respond to and serve residents of Harris County.
Expected Impact:
The CBI training provides a continuation of development of key knowledge and skills for HCPH staff to support community members in their journey towards healing, trauma recovery, and positive behavior change. The proposed curriculum provides a comprehensive framework for holistic trauma-informed care and behavioral change. The model includes training of trainers program to help sustain the implementation of CBI and provide professional development for staff.
