Background and Discussion:

The purpose of the HIV Emergency Relief Project Grants program, as authorized by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009, is to provide direct financial assistance to eligible metropolitan areas (EMAs) that have been the most severely affected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) epidemic to develop, organize and operate programs that provide an effective, appropriate and cost efficient continuum of health care and support services for the individuals and families impacted by HIV disease.

Expected Impact:

Since 1991, Harris County has received an annual grant award for the Houston EMA Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The current FY 2024 grant year funding under the County’s Ryan White Part A/MAI grant is $27,129,925.00.  The County’s Federal FY 2025 Ryan White Part A/MAI grant award is anticipated to be at or near the current year funding level.
