Request by the Commissioner of Precinct 1 for approval of a resolution that expresses Court support to develop an agreement between Harris Health and the Mithoff family that maintains the name of Richard and Ginni Mithoff in its trauma center area for the existing Ben Taub facility or a new facility in future years to reflect the investment and commitment by the Mithoff family to Harris County’s healthcare system and the Hospital District.

Background and Discussion:
Richard Mithoff has dedicated his legal career to fighting for consumers, workers, and families, securing major settlements that have benefited Harris County and its residents. He has also been a generous philanthropist, donating to vulnerable populations, including the Harris Health System. In 2006 the Harris Health System (Harris County Hospital District) honored Richard and Ginni Mithoff’s philanthropic endeavors by naming Ben Taub Hospital’s world-class trauma center the Ginni and Richard Mithoff Trauma Center. The trauma center bears this name today.
