title

Request by Public Health Services for approval to accept an amendment to an agreement with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to update its legal notice, contract representative information, and the family planning section of the Statement of Work for the FY 2024 Women’s Health Program (Family Planning/Healthy Texas Women) Program.

Background and Discussion:

Funded by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, this program combines the Family Planning and the Healthy Texas Women components of the Women’s Health Program. The Family Planning Program helps fund clinics to provide quality, comprehensive, low-cost and accessible family planning and reproductive healthcare services to women and men. The Healthy Texas Women program offers free women’s health and family planning services to eligible, low-income women. These services help women plan their families, whether they want to achieve, postpone, or prevent pregnancy.

Expected Impact:

Approval of this amendment with HHSC allows Public Health Services to continue providing family planning services to Harris County residents who qualify for the Family Planning or Healthy Texas Women Program. These services consist of providing low-income Texas women access to safe and reliable services at no cost including screening, diagnostic, follow-up services, appropriate referrals, public information and education programs. Services also consist of access to health and family planning services to avert unintended pregnancies, positively affect the outcome of future pregnancies, and the health and well-being of women and their families.
