Background and Discussion:
On July 15, 2024, Commissioners Court approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the County’s Revolving Energy Efficiency Fund. The standard operating procedure included that the Office of County Administration, in consultation with the Office of Management and Budget would recommend a budget for the fund in conjunction with the annual budget cycle. The policy passed by court outlined that 50% of the funds saved through energy efficiency measures would be budgeted in the REEF.
The FY 25 recommended REEF budget of $639,560 fund the energy management service, the continued measurement and verification of energy efficiency projects, as well as funds for training building operators, and installing submeters to better track the performance of the County’s South Central Plant.
Expected Impact:
The transmitted budget will allow continued investment and management of energy efficiency projects and to drive additional savings in County utility bills.
Alternative Options:
If Court chooses to not adopt the transmitted budget we would have to fine alternative funding to continue the energy management service.
