Background and Discussion:

This project consists of furnishing all materials, labor, supervision, equipment, and incidentals to remediate two abandoned underground petroleum storage tank systems at the Baytown Courthouse.   All work shall be performed in accordance with the specifications, construction drawings, and any applicable local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and regulations.  The tank systems are currently registered with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as temporarily out-of-service and designated the Facility Identification Number 89978.

Expected Impact:

Remediation of the abandoned underground petroleum storage tank systems will ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rules for permanently removing petroleum storage tanks from service, in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code - Title 30, Part 1, Chapter 334.

Alternative Options:

The alternative option is to continue to comply with the annual requirements of the Texas Administrative Code- Title 30, Part 1, Chapter 334 rules for temporary removal from service.  The underground petroleum storage tank systems are abandoned, and the equipment does not meet current regulatory operational requirements.  Therefore, further use of either system is not proposed or recommended.
